I have no time to work out is the standard excuse most of us give, for not having a healthy lifestyle. The actual truth about this fact is something else.
I happened to read about this old lady called Nanammal from Tamilnadu, India. At the age of 97, she teaches Yoga and keeps herself absolutely fit. With an absolute flexible body, she does some of the toughest poses of Yoga with great ease. She teaches Yoga to about 100 students every day and yet doesn’t miss her daily Yoga routine in the morning. She is truly an inspiration to many.
How difficult is it to get up an hour earlier than your usual time?
You may say you don’t get adequate sleep by doing so.
It is all a question of having an early dinner and cutting down your TV time after dinner
After all, where there is a will, there is always a way!
Being Healthy is not enough; you should also be interested in life. The enthusiasm that you show in life has a lot to do with your health. This means you need both physical as well as mental health.
It is very important to strike that perfect balance between your body, mind and spirit if you want to achieve optimal health. This is best done through Yoga. Yoga creates absolute harmony by aligning your body with your mind and spirit.
Yoga can be done at any time. You may even stick to meditation or pranayama (breathing exercises), if you do not wish to do the asanas (postures).
Doing yoga while reading the newspaper or watching TV, is not going to do you any good. This way although you will be working on your body, your mind will not be aligned. Each and every stretch has to be synchronized with your breath and your awareness.
Yoga will have to accompanied with some good habits if you want to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
First and foremost of these habits is to have an early, light dinner.
Did you know that your dinner has a lot to do with how your next day is going to be?
Your sleep, your morning and your entire day depends on what you eat for dinner, how much you eat and what time you eat. You need to be careful about choosing the type of food you eat and how it affects your body. You may consult an ayurvedic doctor for this, if you don’t wish to experiment.
The Next good habit that you have to develop is to stick to a healthy daily routine
Your body would know what is good and what is not good for you. At times, even if our body tells us what we are doing is not right, we do not listen. We still tend to follow our mind that gives us a hundred excuses for not doing what we should be doing. As a result we become slaves to our minds; and slowly, this becomes a pattern that becomes very difficult to change.
Adopting a healthy life style begins with controlling your mind; and for this, you need to have a strong determination to do everything that is required to change your life style to a better one.
To your success!
